This week I got my 4 copies of Everyday Absurdities in the mail! The book is absolutely hilarious and I am excited to give some away!
Now the reason I am blogging about this is because:
1. It is an everyday absurdity.
2. I emailed Tyler a while ago and all I got was an auto-response.
3. In addition to the auto-response it said his stinkin' inbox was full.
So here I am today.
One of these is not like the others...
I opened it up...
... and I got double the fun halfway through:
I think it could be a collector's item! Maybe I should try to sell it on ebay!
Or I could always use it for my coffee table.
I don't not dress up like a monarch, hike lots, eat fake poop, and teach kids all day.
Marathon!
So.
I did it!
I did a marathon. It was SO hard. But so good. As soon as I finished I told my friends and family to never run one. I am so glad I did it though. The training was really challenging, and so was the race. I wanted to challenge myself mentally and physically, and I met that challenge!
I got a couple of free yogurts post-race:
BUT I might run another one in a few years. But for now, I am sticking to half marathons and hopefully duathlons. (I first need to get a bike!)
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
-Hebrews 12:1-3

Mod(ge) Podged Journals!
I love mod podge. It is so fun and looks fabbb when you have crafted all the little pieces together! I made these 2 years ago but wanted to post this to the (crafting) world.
The first two journals:
The first two journals:
The next two journals:
And I wrapped them with raffia/wraphia and brown packaging paper!
oh no.
Since I have been crocheting my fingers off working on a blanket for Hopie I decided to pursue some other crafty endeavors. I decided to make a hat for Linda.
I saw a cutie pattern on the web and I crocheted the whole darn thing. I looked a little weird but I thought it would come together. It didn't.
It was the worst thing I ever laid my eyes on. And I am not one to exaggerate.

Linda, maybe the last time I saw you your head was pointy. Oh wait, that was when we went to the mall on April Fool's Day 10 years ago. Hm.
My only option was to unravel my beautiful... and by beautiful I mean horrific creation. Dangit.

It took all day and night and here I am the next day with the sad ball of softie yarn.

I will try something else as soon as I manage to pull myself off the floor.
On becoming a crochet queen
So!
I have decided to take up crocheting. I have not crocheted before (I started a beanie a few years back and never finished… that should not count, right?) and I was excited and nervous to take up a new form of crafty.
I met with a group at my school and we crocheted the afternoon away. It was lovely. My first scarf, however, was not.

It was holey and crooky and not that good, people.
Yet onward I crocheted. I ended up making 3 for Operation Gratitude. I had my students help me and it was fun. Our next project for our crocheting group was beenies for preemies. Or beanies. or preamies. or whatever.
I am just about done with my first tiny beanie. Love it.

3 months
Well, it has been 3 months since my last post so I guess it is time for another update. oops.
I don't really know if anyone reads this (except for you Linda, and Grandma and Grandpa!) but that is okay :)
I have been making cards all morning. I LOVE doing that. I made some really cute ones with cardstock that I bought from Joann's fabrics. I used blank cards and went to town. Also, today I bought some shoes for a 2 kids in a family that our small group is adopting for Christmas...
I still love teaching although it is really hard. The parents are so challenging at times and the kids will sometimes suck the patience right out of me. Yet, through prayer I am able to rely on God and HIS love for me- which I can give to others.
Hooray for HIM changing me!!
And I will be an aunt.
Yessssssssss. I love babies. :)

I am a teacher!!
Yes, you read that title correctly!
I am a 1st grade teacher at Milpitas Christian School in San Jose, California. I am so excited and I LOVE my job.
Spending time with 19 6 year-olds is so much fun... and a challenge too! My colleagues are wonderful and I am so supported. I have so much to learn about teaching and they are really helpful. I am also pumped that I am able to use what I learned in student teaching and at Whitworth to help me!
Yessss. It is great.
-Miss Auer (although some say Mrs. Auer or simply Teacher) :)

Home in San Jose!
I have been home for a few weeks now! It is great to be back with family and in lovely weather. I do miss friends from school, though! I have been avidly applying for teaching jobs for next year and for part-time nannying/tutoring positions for the summer. In addition to all of my applying, I have been reading, laying on my hammock, checking out books from the library, baking, hanging with friends, and playing frisbee! It has been wonderful and not too boring yet. I still have a ton of work to do organizing my room.... uggg!
Well, I am off to run some errands (like registering for a ceramics class and going to the store maybe).
Hooray for summer!!!
